We're not surprised - after all, it's nice to know exactly how much juice your phone has left. I’m pretty sure if you can add a lightning bolt symbol when it is charging, you can include the percentage inside that battery icon. Unless these tiny little software changes are how they are gaining the extra 30 minutes by not constantly monitoring the state of the battery.
